A visit at Missy Bon Bon Breadshop of Cagayan de Oro

During our last few days in Cagayan de Oro (CDO), the group started to seek on "Pasalubong" centers for our friends and families back in Manila. We visited the Monster Kitchen and the famous VjANDEP stores which are both located in Cagayan de Oro to buy unique items and foods that are especially made in CDO and other parts of Mindanao. But just when we thought that our "pasalubong" shopping spree were done and having an empty stomachs, we came across to this store with an interesting interiors and appealing menu. The store is named, Missy Bon Bon Breadshop.

I used the words appealing and interesting on describing this bread shop, simply because they used colors such as yellow, blue and brown on their interiors which is really eye-catching. Plus, not to mention their cute logo and the graphics/doodles drawn on their walls.

How to get there?
Just visit their store at LimKet Kai Center, Rosario Drive. LimKet Kai Center is a known shopping mall in Cagayan de Oro. Missy Bon Bon is located in the ground floor and the store opens as early as 7:00 am and closes at 10:30 pm. They also have a branch in Robinson CDO and Gaisano CDO.

As we enter at Missy Bon Bon Breadshop, my eyes went wide and wild with the breads displayed on their entrance. They all looked so good and mouth watering! They were freshly baked and fluffy as I touched and pressed some of the displayed breads. Sorry, I just can't help pressing them. Lols. All of their breads were presented and packed in a presentable way. Maybe that's one of the reason why they have lots of patrons and now becoming the talk of the town in terms of food destination.

Just simply look at it...
I want to taste them all!!!
Their menu is not only limited to breads and pastries. They serve foods on all type of meals of the day as they also offer rice meals, salads and pastas. Oh! I also forgot to mention that Missy Bon Bon also sells gelatos and milkshakes. See! They are not only ideal for breakfast, lunch and dinner... but also for snacks and desserts!

Their Gelatos!
I also noticed that they have a wide range of customers. I saw a group of young ladies eating here, a couple with laptops and lots of papers beside them (I guess they're working), shoppers of LimKet Kai, and travelers (which includes us). The place is cozy and well ventilated. Aside from that, Missy Bon Bon of Limket Kai Center also have a great lighting and because of that I find the place photogenic specially their glass walls wherein you can see the view outside of this store. It gives you a homey feeling and stress free vibe while eating. A perfect place to have a business lunch out, catch up dinner with friends and even a date with a special someone.

Team EdPau waiting for their orders
Amazing interiors! The 2 people on the left were really working hard.
Karen, are you taking photo of your food? or Bona?
Our group couldn't decide what to eat at first because of their wide varieties and all seems to taste delicious. In the end, none of us have the same order... Yup, we all have different orders. Some of us did tried their rice meals, some ordered pastas, and some tried their cakes and pancakes.

Carbonara (150 pesos)
Three Cheese Pasta (155 pesos)
Gladys and her Yema Pancake de Cagayan. (165 pesos)
Bangus Fritter (125 pesos)
Here's what I've ordered - Wild Honey Bacon. But instead of bread, I exchange it for a rice. (150 pesos)
Verdict. Rice meals and pastas were served hot, cakes in cool temperature and all of them were served presentably and taste really really great! Good job guys! We only have one problem with one of our ordered drink but it has been resolved quickly.

Some of Missy Bon Bon's best sellers are Gelatos, Ensaymadas and their own version of Pastel. If you come to visit Cagayan de Oro, I recommend that you drop by at Missy Bon Bon Breadshop. It's up to you whether you'll visit them on early of the day or late at night as like I said their menu can serve any type of meal of the day.

Tous les Jours | Waffles & Loyalty Card Launching

Tous Les Jours (pronounced as "Tu-Le-Juru") has already established its name in Metro Manila since the day it started. A sign of this are the store branches that are popping out all around the Metro. Manileños are now learning about the freshness of Tous les Jours products and just yesterday, I have been a part of another Tous Les Jours milestone as they opened their 12th store located in SM Jazz Mall, Makati.

How to get there?
Take a MRT ride going to Buendia station. From Buendia, look for the Shell station. On the opposite road, there is a jeepney stop for Ayala-bound jeepneys. Take a jeepney ride. Fare is 8 pesos. Just tell the jeepney driver to drop you at SM Jazz or Mapua Makati. They will not going to drop you at the exact location of SM Jazz but it is just a matter of few steps from SM Jazz. Tous Les Jours is located on the 1st floor and in front of the parking lot.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony
The event started with the usual ribbon-cutting ceremony initiated by TLJ President Andrea Amado with Ms. Daiana Menezes (who's so beautiful by the way). After the ribbon-cutting, every invited guest were welcomed to come inside the store. My first impression as I entered this TLJ branch was it's much bigger compared to some of their branch. Aside from the counters and display area of pastries and cakes, Tous Les Jours of SM Jazz also have dining tables, dinning chairs and couches. But the great things are, they preserve the vibes as well as the architectural colors which were also characterized among their other branches.

They welcomed us to come inside TLJ SM Jazz Mall
Couldn't stop myself from taking photos of her

After some meet and greet, and introductions, they also announced 2 more things to be celebrated aside from the 12th store opening. One is the kick off of waffles that will be serve on all TLJ branches and second is the launching of Tous Les Jours's loyalty membership card called "Patisserie Connoisseur".

I think TLJ Jazz can accommodate around 30-40 dine-in customers (photo from TLJ's FB Fan Page)
Same design like their other branches in the metro

Yes, you read it right! Tous Les Jours will start serving us waffles. I am one of the lucky guest to be the first one to taste those waffles (FOR FREE!). Tous Les Jours's waffles comes in 4 different variants: Belgian Waffle, Blueberry Waffle, Strawberry Waffle, and Chocolate Waffle (my favorite among 4). From the time they announced that the waffles were ready to serve, I immediately get one of each kind. I was curious how do these waffles different among the other brands. Verdict, it was sugary crunchy on the outside but as I dig in my teeth into its core, it became softer and started to taste the filling. It was interesting in a good way. Also, I actually find them flavorful. It was tasted according to their labels with an average sweetness -- not bland and not too strong. They valued at 48 pesos each.

Can't tell what just by looking at them... Tasting them is the key
It has sugary crunch outside. Yum!
Good thing my plate wasn't full yet when this was shot (photo from TLJ's FB Page)
Other than the free waffles, free pastries and cakes were also served to the guests! I wished I didn't took meal before I went there. I haven't got to taste everything because I am still full. Shame. But I've got to list some of the products that really caught my taste bud. They will definitely be on my basket the next time I visited Tous Les Jours.

Eye candy muffins!
Even though they have price tags that day, it was free for us! Hehe
Another list of free taste that day. Yup, cakes were included.
It's really hard to focus with all those cakes in front of me (photo from TLJ's FB Page)
The second announcement is the launching of their membership card called "Patisserie Connoisseur". It can be purchased on any TLJ branch which costs 100 pesos. There's also another way to get this membership card. For every 500 pesos in single receipt food purchase, this entitles you for a FREE Patisserie Connoisseur membership card.. Lucky me, they gave us a free membership card from yesterday's event. Card owners will get 2% discount on every 100 pesos and above worth of products purchase. It may sound a little but saving is still a saving. Not only that, this is also a rebate card wherein on every transaction made on this card, points will be earned which can be used on purchasing TLJ products in the future. Not bad huh? They said that the launching of the membership card is one way of TLJ to say thank you to their dear customers.

One of the tokens they gave us -- "Patisserie Connoisseur"
That's not all, Chef Peter, master baker in Tous Les Jours, done some cake demo for everyone. He did a demonstration on how to make/decorate a rose inspired cake that is being sold in TLJ stores. I think he's practicing witchcraft and sorcery... he did the cake decoration in no time and like it was just a game. #Justkidding. Daiana Menezes also done some part of the cake demo which I find very adorable.

He works like magic!

At the end of the event, everybody was happy and (of course) full as we left Tours Les Jours SM Jazz.

From Korea to the Philippines: Tous Les Jours

Korean craze is pushing to a new level! Aside from the Koreanovelas (Full House, Missing You, Endless Love), Korean bands and groups (KPOPs), photo poses (these are the poses in gwiyomi), dance craze (like gangnam style and gentleman), food and restaurants (kimchi, jampong, bonchon, KBOP) that is so popular in the Philippines, today, Korea has also started to bring-in in the country their Bake shop!

Tous Les Jours is an Asian-French bakery originated in Guri, Korea in 1997. They are known for freshly baked breads and delectable cakes that is made from the finest ingredients. Now, Tous Les Jours has established a bakery-cafe system in the U.S as well as in different parts of Asia like the Philippines. For those you doesn't know (this includes me), Tous Les Jous means "everyday" in French and it is pronounced as "Tu-le-juru". Knowing this, we can now invite our friends to visit Tous Les Jours by saying the actual name of the store instead of saying a "nearby bakeshop". Lol.

History of TLJ are part of the store interior
The cakes and products of Tous Les Jours reflects the creativity of the Koreans. Koreans is known for making ordinary things into a cute and fancy one. Inshort term, they are re-inventive. I don't mean to say that we, Filipinos, are less creative. It's just that in this category of being inventive, Koreans is a bit ahead of us. Ok going back... I can say that the main asset of this store are their cake designs. I adore how dainty and delightful their cakes look like. In addition to its amazing shapes and sizes, they also colored their cakes in a way that people will definitely want to eat them. It's really hard to explain this in plain words but the colors really add extra factor for making these cakes look special. From flower shaped cakes to their bear shaped cakes, it just goes to show that Tous Les Jours have expert and creative pastry artists who really knows how to delight customers. Just simply refer on the photos below to see what I am trying to explain here. (All photos are taken again using my smart phone. Please bare with the quality):

Heart Shaped Strawberry Cake - 598.00 PhP
Strawberry Inspiration - 598.00 PhP

Rich Chocolate Cake - 398.00 PhP and Cutie Bear 498.00 PhP
The french side of Tous Les Jours are can be seen in their baked breads. They have a huge variety of baguette, croissants, and croquette pastries. The aroma of these breads will charm you once you get inside Tous Les Jours.

I really want to taste each one of these pastries :P

The interior is also pleasing. They use perfect lighting to emphasize their products and also the whole store design itself. Most of its interior is in wood which set the right vibe for Tous Les Jours. Customer will definitely love not only the products they sell but also because of the aura of this place. It feels cozy inside and most importantly, it's clean.

Busy cashier equates to revenue :]
Choose from these varieties!
What I also find bizzare about Tous Les Jours is that all their pricing ends with number "8" - like 398 Php, 598 Php,  68 Php so on and so forth. I don't know if it's just a coincident.

Chocolate Powder Cake - 448.00 PhP
To end this up... if you want to take a bite of this Korean Bakery, you can visit their branch at SM Mall of Asia in the ground level - Entertainment Mall.

Ratings based on my experience [0-5, 5 is the highest] (MOA Branch) :
Taste: 4.5 - cakes are not too sweet. Just perfect!
Environment: 5 - clean and approved interior
Service:  4.5 - they allow me to take photos and they're friendly as well
Price: 4 - approve!
